Shooting in San Ignacio Town Leaves 2 Men Injured

There were two shootings over the weekend. Two men were hospitalized early on Sunday morning after shots were fired on Hudson Street in San Ignacio Town. It happened at around three-thirty-five and according to police; thirty-two-year-old Moamar Zelaya and his brother were reportedly attacked. Zelaya pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at the attackers. During the shootout, twenty-eight-year-old Belize City resident Christopher Hudson and Cayo resident Jermaine Pandy were hit to the right hand and right elbow. Zelaya is claiming that Hudson and Pandy attacked him which led him to draw his licensed firearm.  ACP Joseph Myvett shared more.

“Initial investigation revealed that Zelaya had an alteration with the aforementioned persons where they drew his licensed firearm and fired shots. He has been detained pending this investigation.”

“No. I don’t know at this point. The matter is still being investigated and we are still recording statements from those who were present.”



“Was is a case of self defense?”
