Joseph Myvett

A seventy-one-year-old Canadian man was shot, beaten and tied up over the weekend. Pierre Blais was entering his Toyota Eco car at his residence in Hope Creek Village, Stann Creek, when he was attacked by two masked men. One of the men drew a firearm and pointed at Blais’ head before firing a single shot, hitting Blais behind the left ear. Meanwhile, the second assailant hit the elderly man with a baseball bat. Blais was later tied, while his robbers searched his residence. The men escaped in Blais’ vehicle and according to ACP Joseph Myvett, they lost control of the vehicle, which ended in a ditch.

“He reported to the police that sometime around seven-forty am on the said date, while he came out of his home and was about to enter his vehicle he was approached by two dark complexion male persons one of whom fired a shot at him which caught him on his neck. He claims he was also beaten and thereafter tied up. His home was ransacked and his vehicle which was a Toyota Eco car was stolen which was later recovered on the coast road extensively damaged. Mr. Blais has since been released from the hospital and is in the process of giving police a statement as to what transpired.”
