Belize City Resident Survives Shooting

A Belize City man was shot on Sunday night sometime around eight-fifteen.  Stephan Tablada was hit with a single bullet to the right calf as he entered his home on Neal’s Pen Road. Tablada recognized two men on motorcycle in the area and police say they are now looking for those persons.  Tablada is a relative of Damien Leslie, who was also shot last week.  Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino says investigators are checking to see if there is a connection.

“CIB personnel visited the KHMH and there they found Mr. Stephan Tablada, eighteen year old of Neal Penn Road. He was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the right calf. Investigations from police indicate that Mr. Tablada was socializing at a basketball court on Neal Penn Road and was making his way into his residence when he heard several loud bangs which he thought were gunshots. Upon looking in the direction of the street, he noticed two individuals on a motorcycle and upon seeing them, they sped off. He then realized that he was injured, was shot. He indicated to police that he recognized both individuals and police are seeking those two individuals.”

“Sir Mr. Tablada is listed as ninety five Neal Penn Road which is the same addressed listed by Mr. Leslie who was shot a while back, a week or so ago, could you all say if this is considered to be gang related?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“Well we are looking into it. We know that they are related. We know that he is the uncle or the nephew of Mr. Leslie.”
