American National Rescued on Flooded Buena Vista Road

An American national is lucky to be alive tonight. Jack Turner was saved by police and rescue teams after rushing waters swept him off the Buena Vista Road in Spanish Lookout. The incident happened around six-thirty on Monday evening and since then, there have been numerous reports circulating that as many as three persons were inside the vehicle, of which two remain missing. But today police refuted those claims, telling the media that Turner was the only person inside the vehicle.

“Police were called to an area on the Buena Vista-Spanish Lookout Road, where they were informed that a vehicle driven by one Jack Turner was trying to cross a flooded area on the road and as a result the vehicle was washed away. He was rescued and was in an unconscious state at the time was rescued. He was taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where he was later stabilized. Our investigation show that at the time he was travelling alone.”

“There was some confusion at the time – because police on the ground believed there were some other persons in the vehicle with him. Could you say why they believed that?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“That is the initial information that was given to the police but after confirming with Mr. Turner’s son and Mr. Turner himself is that he was indeed travelling alone.”

Reporter

“Could you confirm whether rescue units – the fire and rescue units from Spanish Lookout continued to search after Mr. Turner had been found?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Yes, they did. And no one else was found in the vehicle. The vehicle was pulled from the water sometime after nine p.m. last night.”
