4 Persons Survive Head-on Collision

Four persons are lucky to be alive tonight after they were involved in a head-on collision this morning. It happened at around seven o’clock between miles two and three of the Stann Creek Valley Road. Forty-two-year-old Karima Martinez was driving a white Ford Escape with her seventeen-year-old daughter in the passenger seat, heading towards Dangriga. There she crashed into an oncoming black Toyota Hilux which was being driven at the time by Canadian national seventy-year-old Snyder Leandre. Fifty-six-year-old Ivan Jones was the passenger inside the Toyota Hilux. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and no fatalities were recorded. According to Dangriga’s Commanding Officer, Superintendent Leslie Wade, Martinez was on the wrong lane.

“As a result of that accident, three of them received bodily injuries. The only passenger that was not transported was Mr. Ivan Jones. Police went through the normal process of processing the scene and we are yet to record some statement as it relates to the drivers and passengers.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Sir, are you able to say what caused the accident? “

Supt. Leslie Wade

“Well at present, based on the scene and out sketch plane, it would appear that the white SUV was in the lane of the black Toyota Hilux. However for me to say what caused the white SUV to have gone into the lane of the black Toyota Hilux is another question. The police are conduction their investigation and at the end of the day we will come up with a conclusion as it relates to this incident.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Sir the three persons who were hospitalized, did the received severe injuries?”

Supt. Leslie Wade

“Like I said, initially Ms. Karima Martinez was unresponsive but at this time she is now responding. She is in a stable condition. However the Southern Regional medical authorities saw it fit for all three persons to be transported to K.H.M.H for further medical treatment.”
