Was Gun-toting OW Cop in the Company of a Wanted Man?

Police Constable Michael Patten remains under investigation for discharging a firearm outside of a nightclub in Orange Walk Town last week.  While the officer will be dealt with internally, criminal charges are yet to be brought against him amid questions of what transpired at the establishment that night.  It is believed that Patten may have been in the company of unsavory characters who are wanted for questioning by police at the time of the incident.  According to ACP Joseph Myvett, it is an angle that is also being explored during their investigation.

“I do know though that several persons are being interviewed in relation to the investigation and the police are seeking several persons who they want to talk to in relation to that investigation.”

“Would you, also in relation to that, be able to tell us about any charges disciplinary or not against Michael Patten, an officer assigned to the SPU I believe?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“I do not know if there is any yet, however, I can make checks and have that information for you.  I know that the information was still ongoing when we last spoke on Thursday.”

Reporter

“Do you know if Mr. Patten has been called in or detained by police?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Yes.”

Reporter

“Are police looking only at him firing his weapon or are they also looking at the angle that he was seen with a known gang person, who is also, I understand, a suspect in a shooting or a murder at this point?  Would police take a dim view to something at that or would they be looking at that angle when questioning Mr. Patten?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Certainly that will be part of the investigation as well.”
