A Parallel Audit: One for Shyne and One for NICH

A game at which two can play seems to be the direction that the tiff between Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow and besieged NICH President Sapna Budhrani is headed.  Budhrani’s suspension came into effect on Monday, however, a formal review of the expenditure of funds made available to the Office of the Music Ambassador for Music Week 2018 has also been ordered.  The request comes after Barrow was asked to account for monies he received for the annual event this year, following controversial remarks in which he openly questioned Budhrani’s suitability for the post of president of the National Institute of Culture and History.  Cabinet has instructed that an external audit be conducted by Baker Tilly Hulse at NICH, while Budhrani remains on administrative leave.  An internal audit, on the other hand, will also be undertaken at Shyne’s office to determine how the thirty-five thousand dollar contribution was spent.

“All of my receipts are there.  I find the audit to be a strategic move on the part of Budhrani to distract and divert attention from the issues that shes having with her own internal auditor.  But all of my receipts are there and music week cost me seventy-two-thousand, five hundred dollars, so certainly I can account for the thirty-five thousand that was contributed by NICH.  That is not a problem whatsoever.  However, I was told by the internal auditor that he was instructed not to speak to me, so I dont see how you can conduct an audit of my office without speaking to me.  I find that strange, but lets see if that will continue because she is now on leave.”

“Excuse me sir, is this the same theologian internal auditor who will be auditing your office?”

Shyne Barrow

“Again, I know that there is only one internal auditor at NICH, but whoever is designated to get an accounting of the thirty-five thousand dollars, I welcome that accounting.”

“Do you think this is all about the money?  I mean, there has been allegation that under previous leadership you were able to get your stipend or funding in one lump sum, but now with this new NICH president her rules are that you get it by quarterly installments.”

Shyne Barrow

“Well again, I have spent a hundred and fifty thousand dollars of my money so far this year.  So certainly, whatever monies are contributed by NICH are well deserved on my part, well earned and initially I had no budget at NICH, but as I spent my money and spent my money it was decided that, you know what, the efforts of the Ambassador of Music should be supported.”
