Eugene Tillett Charged for Robbery of Elderly Bank Customer

Investigators have not recovered any of the money stolen from seventy-nine-year-old Harold Williams at his home on Monday afternoon.  They have, nonetheless, made significant inroads in catching up with one man whom they believe was the mastermind behind the robbery of the elderly Kings Park resident.  Forty-one-year-old Eugene Tillett has been arrested and charged with robbery and damage to property and was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford earlier today.  He is one of three men suspected to have followed Williams home from Scotiabank on the Philip Goldson Highway and robbed him of fifteen thousand dollars in cash downstairs of his home at the corners of Dunn and Landivar Streets.  Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett tells us more.

“Police have since arrested and charged Eugene Tillett for the crime of robbery, as well as damage to property and are seeking two more suspects in regards to this investigation.”

“Is he cooperating with investigators?”

“No.”

 

Reporter

“Is he someone who is known to meddle in these kinds of affairs?”

 

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Yes, he is known to the police and as a result police also have one vehicle impounded in relation to this investigation.”

 

Reporter

“Were there any security footage that assisted you in this process?”

 

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No, none that was able to assist us.  It’s just leads that we followed that allowed us to effect this arrest.”

 

Reporter

“Any of the stolen monies recovered?”

 

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No, no monies were recovered so far.”
