Kidnappers Now Want Bitcoins for Safe Return of Abducted San Narciso Businessman

Omero Campos

Despite an ongoing hunt, San Narciso businessman Omero Campos remains missing. Campos was abducted on June sixteenth when he headed to his farm in the nearby village San Victor, well known for contraband and other illicit activities. A one-million dollar ransom was demanded by kidnappers, but this week, an email surfaced where the purported abductors are demanding twenty bitcoins, which is the equivalent of a quarter of a million dollars, far less than previously demanded. Now, the email has since been traced to a foreign company in Switzerland, but that’s as far as the police know so far and there has been no recent contact to indicate whether or not Campos is safe.

“Police in Corozal are still investigating the disappearance of Omer Campos. Police are searching several areas along the river side from Douglas to the border with Santa Elena and Mexico, but up to now we have not received any information or any other thing that can link us to this male person that has been missing since the sixteenth.”

“Sir I believe that several days after he went missing, the family got a call. And then an email has been circulating about ransom request for bitcoins. Is police looking into this? What kind of update do you guys have?”

“Well as I was made aware, it was the media that this email was sent. Nonetheless, we have had communication with one of the media houses that had received the email. We are working with them and we have traced the origin of the email; however that is way abroad and the email address that is being used is one that cannot be traced. We have downloaded some information in regards to that and that is one of the most secure email that they have at this moment.”
