Cop Caught in Drug Bust Faces Internal Charges

Braiden Robateau

As we told you on Monday, police constable Braiden Robateau and three siblings were arrested and charged by Orange Walk Police after they were nabbed in a marijuana smuggling operation in the north. On Saturday, the group of four men, including brothers: Harvey, Windell and David Trapp were busted red-handed in Santa Cruz Village, Corozal by a joint law enforcement team of Customs, B.D.F. and Police. The alleged drug smugglers were traveling in a Hyundai Sonata SUV, carrying a huge quantity of compressed Mexican weed stashed in a bag. The men were arraigned in the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court where Harvey pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking charge. That plea was denied by the Magistrate and they were all given bail of five thousand dollars and are to return to court on August twenty-eighth.  As Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino told the media on Monday, PC Robateau, who is attached to the San Ignacio Police Formation, will also be facing disciplinary charges imposed by the Police Department.
