Vigil Continues for Hit and Run Victim Cristian “Swanka” Charles

It’s been four days since twenty-six-year-old Christian Charles was knocked down and left for dead near the Burrell Boom Bridge in rural Belize District. Swanka, as he is affectionately known, is still in a critical condition inside the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital clinging to life following the hit and run incident which occurred sometime between three and six o’clock on Sunday morning. Today, his mother arrived in country from the U.S. to join a group of relatives that has been camping outside the hospital, hoping and praying for the best. Orvin Haylock gave News Five an update on Charles’ condition and says that the perpetrator has still not been located.

“The doctors are saying the same thing; he’s still in a critical condition, clinging for his life. We don’t even really know what will happen; today they just start the dialysis at one o’clock today so we have to wait and see what’s gonna happen after this.”

“Have the police said anything? I know the last time we spoke, police really didn’t get involved any at all.”

“Well my aunt told me that she received a call from Mister Alden Dawson but I don’t know what he told her, but that was the case. She said that Alden did talk to her about the incident but we don’t know cause dehn no come to me personally as the oldest brother.”

“And still nothing as to who could have done this?”

 

Orvin Haylock

“Nobody has turned up as yet and we are still asking if anybody at all can donate blood for my brother, we still need blood. They can come in and just say that they are donating blood for Christian Charles and they will take the blood instant.”
