Despite Charge, Victim Appears to Forgive Ladyville Attacker

Stabbing victim Douglas Bowen of Ladyville has insisted he does not wish to press charges for an attack against him last Thursday. But police have nonetheless brought the accused, twenty-year-old Dowellson Blair, to court on a charge of dangerous harm. Bowen was stabbed in the leg during an altercation with Blair on a basketball court and ended up in an induced coma at the hospital. Blair was read the charge before Magistrate Michelle Trapp and the court prosecutor objected to bail. But according to Blair, he was defending himself from a bully and he later cooperated with police. Blair to this point had not had legal representation, but Senior Counsel Hubert Elrington arrived to represent him, reporting to the court that Bowen had woken up and is out of danger and has changed his mind about court action. But until the court has that in writing, Magistrate Trapp set Blair free on bail of five thousand dollars and ordered him to stay away from Brown for as long as the matter is before the court. The case was adjourned for June fourteenth.
