Donation Will Lead to Proper Charges

Howell Gillett

The set of books, says Senior Superintendent Howell Gillett, should aid officers in apprising themselves with the relevant laws in order to lay proper charges on suspected criminals.

Sr. Supt. Howell Gillett, O.C., Eastern Division South

“The officers could now come directly to an office right where they work and get ease of reference for information that is so badly needed.  What we’ve seen in the past, officers have made mistakes and taken up a lot of the court’s time with the wrong charges.  That will be a thing of the pass now with today’s donation and we are so happy for the AG to have considered the Eastern Division South.  Thank you so much sir, for doing that.  This donation is not a cheap donation, as he said, it’s five thousand dollars worth of the fifteen volumes of the laws of Belize and I believe very soon, as he rightly said would have the most updated with the addition of the new amendments that were made recently.  So it’s very pleasing.  It will take less of the court’s time and then we expect the conviction rate to increase as a result of officers having firsthand knowledge of the new sets of laws of Belize.”

BULL$%^&*(, WITH ALL THE CAPITALS! I WELCOME RESPONSES. ALL OFFICERS SHOULD HAVE A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE LAW BEFORE THEY TAKE OATH, ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO HAVE MORE THAN ONE STRIPE. YOU CAN DONATE ALL YOU WANT. WHAT GOOD ARE BOOKS WHEN OVER HALF OF YOUR OFFICERS CAN’T READ NOR WRITE. I DIGRESS.

Really? Books and a place to reference? Mr. Gillett that is the wrong answer, you have a lack of officer training and leadership. If you held quarterly police/law/charges training events (Works everywhere in the world) right at your main police office building quarterly, you will resolve your current situation.
