Hattieville Suspects Reversed Flow of Controlled Substances

Wilfredo Ferrufino

All four detainees are residents of Hattieville, Belize District, but police say that they are not known as drug peddlers. In this case, the cannabis is coming from Mexico because it is reportedly of a higher grade. Inspector Ferrufino was also asked to explain this dynamic.

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Belize City

“We found these drugs on them and they have so far been charged for that. There is nothing to indicate that there is any collusion from any landing of any planes.”

Duane Moody

“Now sir, normally you would see the drugs traveling north, across the border to Mexico. Interestingly, this one is coming into Belize. Could you explain that dynamic? What was happening there?”

Voice of: Cpl. Hortence Hernandez, Public Relations, Belize Police Department

“Guys I don’t think we are able to answer that. the matter is under investigation and four persons are detained in police custody pending charges of drug trafficking.”

“These persons are from where in Belize?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“…from Hattieville area. They are residents of Hattieville.”

“And it is believed that the drugs were destined for Hattieville or other parts>”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“Well we do not want to speculate; we can’t say for sure where it was determined.”

This morning, police also conducted searches in the Los Lagos Community of Ladyville. They found two plastic bags with five hundred grams of cannabis in an abandoned lot but no arrests were made. In searches in the south, police found firearms and cannabis. In Independence, one nine millimetre Smith and Wesson pistol, one magazine with two rounds of ammo and one hundred sixty-two grams of cannabis were retrieved from the Cemetery and Trench Town areas.
