Michael Finnegan Talks Campaign Strategy in Mesop

Michael Finnegan

Mesopotamia is historically a red constituency, controlled by career politician Michael Finnegan.  It is also one of the smallest electoral divisions within Belize City.  Despite its size, the mobilization of supporters was in full swing today, the enduring area representative bringing out as many as stalwarts to the U.D.P. rally.  Today, he shared his predictions of victory on March seventh.

Michael Finnegan, U.D.P. Area Rep., Mesopotamia

“The U.D.P. brought out a massive crowd.  This is a very successful occasion for the United Democratic Party.  Who mi di kill di United Democratic Party surely mek wahn mistake because di U.D.P. is alive and it is kicking and will win Belize City Council election on the seventh of March.  I predict that for you.”

Isani Cayetano

“Now, one could argue and say that a turnout on Nomination Day is totally separate and different than a turnout on Election Day when people are actually casting votes.”

Michael Finnegan

“That is what I wanted to tell the P.U.P. when they had that turnout for their convention.  A turnout at that convention will be a different thing on Election Day and you are correct.  Election Day is for all the marbles and that is where Queen Square, Mesopotamia, Collet, Port Loyola, Albert and Pickstock will show their pretty heads for the United Democratic Party.  That is when the election is going to be decided.”

Isani Cayetano

“How has the campaign effort in your constituency been, I know that Mesopotamia is historically a red constituency, but what has been the leg work this time around?”

Michael Finnegan

“I have canvassed that division for the city council election four times.  Four times I have been around that division, me personally without any campaigners, by myself.  Michael Finnegan alone, door-to-door, street-to-street, morning to evening, meeting the people, doing things for them, selling the message of the United Democratic Party and giving hope to the people of the Mesopotamia Division. I want to thank you personally for being a fair reporter on the political issues.  You personally.”
