P.U.P. Presents “Sensible” Manifesto in Orange Walk

It is the only town council they control nationally, and have in whole or in part since 2012. The People’s United Party hopes to retain Orange Walk Town painting it as a model of propriety and independence in a sea of United Democratic Party control. Mayor Kevin Bernard and his team of councilors have crossed many hurdles to deliver the goods and services to the residents of Sugar City. Today, they presented their plans to supporters whom they believe will secure them another term. Aaron Humes has the details.

After two terms in office and a total of nine years in municipal administration, Orange Walk Mayor Kevin Bernard says he knows better than to make grand promises to the residents of the city he hopes to continue to lead. But that doesn’t mean they should not expect great things from his town council slate.

“This is not a list of fanciful pie-in-the-sky promises. How many times have we seen beautifully designed manifestos with pages of dreams being sold to the people; when elections are done, those booklets or brochures are thrown by the wayside, not to be seen again until the next election when the same promises are recycled in Orange Walk. That is not how we did and how we served the people of this town; we have worked our manifesto, we have delivered for the people and we will continue to work for you.”

The P.U.P. Town Council will put focus on managing the town’s collections and making it easier to pay, so that it can be more easily put to good use.

“Your P.U.P. Town Council will continue to, one; maintain financial stability; two, publish on our website our financial records; three, hold neighborhood and town meetings to address the concerns and welfare of our community. When it comes to taxes, after reducing the tax burden on the citizens and implementing an improved, fair and efficient tax system that works for all. Your P.U.P. Town Council will, one; two, continue offering tax benefits to our senior citizens; three, encourage new start-up business by offering tax incentives; lastly, continue to put your tax dollars to good use.”

“This P.U.P. team will pave seventy-five more streets (Applause); develop a infrastructural enhancement drainage plan. We guarantee you, we’re going to build you a new cemetery because everybody is claiming that we need a new cemetery. Replace the old town clock – it has been there quite a while – with a digital display screen. Under a P.U.P. government, we can assure you that this P.U.P. town council will build a new market, further expand and enhance the Fort Cairns market plaza. Construct a futsal playing ground – right there “Mad Bull” come in again at the Independence Plaza. Sambula noh have to say we neva tek three hundred thousand dollars like weh ih mi say, but we will do it under a P.U.P. government.”

And there’s much more, leading P.U.P. leader John Briceño to give this endorsement:

“I know we are in good hands in Orange Walk Town, and it gives me the opportunity to be able to concentrate on the rest of the country. But I want to put on record, that Orange Walk has been punished by the Barrow-Faber corrupt U.D.P. government. They punished you because you voted P.U.P.  And I want to assure Kevin, and the councilor candidates and the entire people of Orange Walk Town that the next P.U.P. government is going to reward Orange Walk Town for sticking up for the People’s United Party.”
