Woman Shot While Talking to Friend

There were two separate shootings on Sunday night on the south side of Belize City. Around six-thirty p.m., a data entry clerk was shot to the right arm as she spoke with a man on Casaurina Street. Twenty-six-year-old Ajesha Humes is tonight hospitalized in a stable condition at the K.H.M.H. The duo was talking when they were accosted by a gunman on bicycle. While her male friend escaped unhurt, Humes was hit and rushed to the hospital. Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo says that two different caliber of expended shells were recovered from the scene.

“A female was walking on Casaurina Street, by the name of Ajesha Felisha Humes. She was in the company of another male person and whilst they were walking on Casaurina Street, several shots were fired in their direction. As a result, she sustained gunshot injuries to her body and she was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she is still admitted in a stable condition. The other person accompanying her was unhurt. So far, police processed the scene there and observed several expended shells of two different calibers of firearm. At this moment, police are out on the scene conducting further investigation to see what can be ascertain as to what was the motive and who was the target in regards to this shooting.”
