Unraveling the Mystery of Fareed Ahmad’s Death and Police Investigation

Fareed Ahmad

Fareed Ahmad was killed on December twenty-eighth and a woman police constable traveling in his vehicle on that tragic night has been charged for his murder. That case, however, continues to unravel with more questions than answers. The family of the well-known barber from Hattieville believes that law-enforcement officers had a hand in his execution and claims they have text messages that speak to this allegation. Tonight, News Five’s Isani Cayetano pieces together this story.

Arguably the most sensational crime story since the beheading of Pastor Llewellyn Lucas in 2016, the murder of thirty-nine-year-old Fareed Ahmad continues to garner public interest.   Numerous plot twists in this sordid narrative center on the alleged involvement of a team of police officers in the execution of the much-loved barber.  It’s a development that was introduced by Ahmad’s family in the wake of his death.

“Unfortunately, what we also know is that yesterday morning Fareed made a formal complaint to the police internal affairs office with Mr. Williams and less than twelve hours later my brother was ambushed and shot multiple times.  Ominously, he was also accompanied by a female police officer from the same SAT team.  The family is not insinuating that this team, I understand commanded by Mr. Vidal, was involved in Fareed’s ambush, but there’s a lot of unfortunates that’s been occurring under this command.”

Michelle Brown

The female police officer in question, identified as WPC 1572 Michelle Brown, has since been charged with Fareed’s murder.  Her arraignment on Tuesday morning, however, does not bring to an end speculations that other officers from the Special Assignments Team may have conspired to kill the well-known soccer referee.  In fact, that theory lingers, despite ACP Chester Williams going on record earlier this week to dispel that notion.

“We have recorded statements and extensively interviewed them and from their eyewitness account, they are saying that there was no other person in the vehicle, they saw no one exiting the vehicle.  When they went to the vehicle the vehicle was still locked and only those two persons were inside the vehicle.  So at this time, we have that from three different witnesses.  There is no one who has suggested anything that there was a third person inside the vehicle. So far the investigation is showing that the W may have acted alone.”

The first responders to the scene of the violent crash early that morning have indeed provided statements that Brown was the only passenger inside Ahmad’s BMW at the time of the incident.  While that appears to check out, it doesn’t negate the idea that the shooting was indeed an orchestrated hit on the Muslim brother.  Actually, a string of text messages, purportedly from a ranking member of the very same unit in question, seems to substantiate the belief that other officers may have been involved.

“Inside those messages also mentions [that] the lead investigating officer or one of the senior investigating officers in regards to Fareed’s murder cannot do anything to stop what has started.  But in those messages indicated that for some reason who those messages were sent to must have been talking, must have been afraid, must have been scared; whereby the person sending that message also threatened the officer of his life about whether or not if he can’t control himself, he will fall similarly to the demise of Fareed.”

The content of those messages have been shared publicly on social media and have been passed on to investigators working the Ahmad homicide.  Of utmost concern to the family is the outcome of the matter, given the fact that the police department is tasked with investigating its own members.

“The family wants a thorough investigation.  For example, they’ve handed over the text messages that they have been receiving that they have been making threats to all the members of the family.  There are several other angles that have been brought to the attention of the assistant commissioner which in fact is very important in relation to all the suspicions that are swirling around in regards to the untimely death which is clearly at the hands of somebody who killed Fareed Ahmad.”

The unanswered question at this juncture is what are investigators prepared to do, having been armed with information that may implicate other members of the Special Assignments Team? Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.

What will the minister of police or Mr. Barrow do to have justice for Faheed Ahmad. Justice must be done. The people can not thrust the once that supposed to make sure that justice is done. An independent investigating team, out of the police department, should be set to do the investigation. Police can not and should not investigate themselves.
