SAT Leader Tried to Get Firearm from Accused WPC

Chester Williams

With the passing of Fareed Ahmad last Wednesday, what becomes of the initial complaint filed against the Special Assignments Team?  It’s a question that was posed to ACP Williams.  He says that the statement given by Ahmad is being looked into, in order to determine whether he was indeed violated by the officers.  Likewise, Williams tells the media that all indications are that WPC Michelle Brown acted alone in killing Ahmad.

ACP Chester Williams, Commander, Professional Standards Branch

“We are still looking into the complaint to see whether or not the members of SAT violated him, in terms of what they did.  So it is still an issue that we’ll investigate.  But so far, our investigation, both from a criminal and administrative standpoint, has not unearthed any nexus between the two complaints, meaning between the complaint that he made and his death.  So far, the investigation is showing that the W [Woman Police Constable Michelle Brown] may have acted alone.”

“How extensively have the SAT officers [been investigated] to rule out that there was absolutely no involvement and that she acted alone and it’s not as the family is accusing that there was, they used her to set up Fareed, basically?”

ACP Chester Williams

“Okay.  All the vehicles assigned to SAT, as well as the other vehicles in Eastern Division, are equipped with GPS and the GPS monitors the movement of the vehicles by a timely manner.  We have gone through the GPS of all the SAT vehicles and the GPS did not reveal any of them leaving Eastern Division, meaning Belize City, before or after Fareed’s death, except for one of them and that was the one that was found, that I met there the morning.  And based on the GPS reading, they had left that morning around, just after six, and they went to Hattieville.”

  1. Tony Gillings says:

The Police need to stop fighting among themselves, stop interference from rass politicians and start fighting crime! It is out of control and innocent civilians are being needlessly murdered.
    FIGHT CRIME, NOT EACH OTHER
And, for God’s sake – will the media ever cop on and do some proper reporting???? You all need to go back to journalists school (if you ever went to one) and learn how to question authorities to get to the bottom of stories.
