CitCo brings Christmas breakfast to Stella Maris

The Belize City Council is aiming for Santa’s job this year – they have been giving gifts and treats all across the city for their edition of ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’. The cheering and sharing made its way over to the Stella Maris School. More than sixty students were treated to a hearty breakfast this morning. News Five stopped in at Stella Maris.

Kevin Singh, Councilor, Belize City Council

“We are spreading cheer with these kids and so we called Stella Maris and asked to give these kids breakfast early in the morning.”

Andrea Polanco

“Talk to me about what you are sharing with the children today?’

Kevin Singh

Kevin Singh

“Yes. It is Johnny Cakes, ham, eggs, beans – a heavy breakfast this morning and some hot Ovaltine and juice. When we started the adventure of giving back every year, Twelve Days of Christmas, we wanted to give each and every school or to most schools each year and Stella Maris is a school that really needs the help, so we decided to come in this morning and give them a boost.”

Andrea Polanco

“What would you want the kids to take away from this whole experience; or how they would feel after this breakfast?”

Kevin Singh

“Well, I would hope that they would have a lot of energy and running around with the teachers today. They are very vibrant kids and they need the help sometimes so that is why we are here to help and assist.”

“We are so very thankful. We can’t express it enough and we recognize that with sensitizing the public we are getting more and more assistance. It creates that environment where people understand more that persons living with diverse abilities they are a part of the society and they need to feel that they are a part and that they fit and they have a say, as well.”

Andrea Polanco

“How do you think this breakfast is making them feel this morning?”

Karema Oshon

“I am sure it is making them feel happy. They are pleased with whatever is being served to them and courtesy of the Belize City Council. We didn’t even have to lift a straw and children are being served this nutritious meal in their honor.”
