Giving out the Jingle Box

Some needy families were all smiles today in anticipation of the Christmas holidays. Inside a Jingle Box, the families found an assortment of groceries that will make their Christmas happier. Bowen and Bowen partnered with World Pediatric Project for the gifting of the hampers. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

The spirit of the Christmas Season is truly appreciated in gift giving.  At this time of year, companies across the country are engaged in various charitable activities, a majority of them are aimed at assisting the most needy.  This morning, Bowen and Bowen Limited and the World Pediatric Project distributed several food hampers to a handful of families, ahead of the holidays.

“Today, Bowen and Bowen donated thirty boxes of grocery hampers to World Pediatric Project for distribution to our patients.  We make a selection because we try to find out which one of our patients are most in need.”

“In terms of your selections for today, who are we looking at and how was that process?  I know it’s based on a needs system.  Talk to us a bit about the selections for today.”

“It’s very difficult because we have thousands of patients that we try to heal through our clinics, but we make an effort to try to get to know our families best.  We have some that their husbands have passed away and are single parents and patients in dire need, and those are the ones that we select.  Unfortunately, you know, there are so many others that are in need.”

The donation of food items is part of the Seventh Annual Bowen and Bowen Christmas Jingle Box.  Public Relations Coordinator John Palacio tells us more.

“It is more than a great initiative actually derived from the staff of Bowen and Bowen.  They actually got together and said, “You know what, let’s try and provide that Christmas dinner for families.”  Then eventually it moved to even more than that, whereby Bowen and Bowen Ltd. And all the business units inside Bowen and Bowen Ltd. got together and said, “You know what, let’s try and get a certain amount.”  We wanted to raise, I think it was forty boxes within and then while they raised that or whatever they came up with, the mother company, Bowen and Bowen Ltd., would actually match those.  Firstly, like we mentioned, it was actually just a Christmas dinner but we started to provide now a Christmas Jingle Box.  As a matter of fact, you could hear the jingle in the background because it’s actually a jingle box.”

Jingle Boxes are being distributed to various agencies across the country, including the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.
