Bodybuilders Strike Gold in Managua

Belize has finally gotten on the golden side in the Central American Games in bodybuilding. On Tuesday night, Clayton Greenidge secured the masters’ title and light-heavyweight eighty-kilogram category. Oyinkro Akpobodor secured bronze in his category. On the women’s side, Gina Lovell and Annlyn Apolonio finished out of the money in their respective categories of body fitness and bikini fitness. The team returned to Belize today. Meanwhile, the cyclists were out in Managua for the individual time trial. Defending national time trial champion and three-time Cross Country champion Alicia Thompson got off to a good start as the first cyclist out of the gate and led the field at the halfway point, but she wound up fifth in the final classification. Race officials led her and teammate Kaya Cattouse away for anti-doping tests as random selection. On the male side, Giovanni Lovell and Tarique Flowers could not catch up to their male counterparts. Table tennis and volleyball continue to struggle, with the tennis players losing both of their round-robin team events to Panama and Honduras today.
