House Meets Friday; G.O.B. Wants More Money

Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, the last for 2017, is expected to be chock-full of news. Hanging over the gathering like a specter is the UHS debt motion, which the Government is not expected to introduce until notice has been received from the Belize Bank or payment is agreed on and made as we reported earlier. But at the top of Friday’s agenda is a mysterious General Revenue Supplementary Appropriation Bill, the third for 2017, to appropriate further sums of money for the use of the Public Service for the 2016-2017 financial year. We have not confirmed what this is for but we’ll keep you posted. In other House news, a forty-million U.S. dollar loan motion for budgetary allocation from Taiwan will be debated, as well as several bills returning for second reading including the Petroleum Operations (Maritime Zone Moratorium) Bill and the Stake Bank Cruise Docking Facility (Amendment) Bill. We will be there for all the drama and highlights and have them for you in Friday’s newscast.
