Be Prepared for Scouts Seeking Teddy Bears

Scouts Belize needs your help to spread some cheer with the hostels in Belize. As a part of the Christmas campaign, the organization is asking for donations of teddy bears for their “Teddy of Hope” Drive. The Scouts will be participating in the annual Christmas parade and after, the teddy bears will be distributed to children in homes and hostels.  We spoke with Aliza Vasquez of Scouts Belize who tells us more about their initiative.

“The tree of hope campaign basically focuses on hope for peace; hope for humanity; hope for love and compassion; hope for those living with terminally illnesses such as cancer and cures for such illnesses and generally speaking hope for a better tomorrow. Under this theme, we are undertaking a teddy of hope drive and under this teddy of hope drive we are inviting the public to participate by providing a teddy bear in the memory of a lost loved one. We provide a tag that has “In honor of” section where you put the name of the loved one and the “message of hope” section where you put a positive message. These teddy bears collected will be displayed on our tree of hope during the parade and at a later date we will have a giving back day where the scouts and cub scouts would then visit the youth hostels and gifts these teddy bears of hope to the children there.”

“Where can the members of the public drop off the teddy bears?”

“So, teddy-bears can be submitted here at the headquarters or any of the scout leaders and scouts or we can work out the logistics internally. Our cut off time is next week Thursday because the parade is the sixteenth and we would like to have them prepared and neatly packaged so that they can be on display and later gifted. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. It doesn’t have to be anything costly; something within your means and something new.”
