Prime Minister is back; dodges media over U.H.S.

This Tuesday’s regular cabinet meeting will be the first since the Caribbean Court of Justice ordered that the government has to pay a ninety- million dollar loan note for the obsolete Universal Health Services.  It is expected it will be a difficult sitting. Prime Minister Dean Barrow returned to the country earlier today from Houston, Texas where he attended a private event. The P.M. unusually dodged the waiting media on his arrival at the Philip Goldson Airport and boarded his vehicle on the tarmac. Barrow has not been heard from since the C.C.J. ruling but in his absence his ministers have been saying they will vote no to the repayment of the loan. Late this evening, a House meeting announced for Friday, has been postponed to a yet to be determined date.  But a unified position is expected to come out of the cabinet meeting which he presides. We note that as a senior attorney, the Prime Minister is well aware that there will be consequences to pay if the court’s order is ignored. On the other hand, as many as nine of his ministers have indicated that they would vote no.
