Was British Volunteer in Ladyville Killed Because of the Company She Kept?

Michelle Anison

A British woman was stabbed to death sometime this week in Ladyville and it wasn’t until her landlady made a check at her apartment that her advanced decomposing body was discovered.  Michelle Anison was stabbed several times and her vehicle is now missing, according to Police. There are not many details on this latest killing, but we understand that Anison lived alone and was very friendly with villagers and some say she may have been too nice and trusting because she kept company with some shady characters in the community.  News Five’s Andrea Polanco shares what we have learnt about circumstances surrounding the British national’s murder:

The decomposing body of murdered British national fifty-six-year-old Michelle Anison was found in her apartment here on Perez Road in Ladyville. Anison was stabbed to death and police say her SUV is missing.

Shortly after eleven-thirty this morning, the landlady of this apartment complex went to check at Anison’s room because she was late with her rent, which was unlike her. They made several calls to Anison earlier this week but she never responded – which is why they decided to stop in at apartment number six to collect payment just before noon. But when the landlady came to the apartment they noticed Anison’s vehicle was missing from the parking lot. She called out but there was no answer at the door. Upon further checks outside of Anison’s apartment, the landlady was greeted by a foul smell. And shortly after the gruesome discovery was made – Anison’s decomposing body was lying face up with several stab wounds to the neck and chest.

Reports are that Anison’s documents – her passport and other forms of identifications are also missing from the apartment.

Work associates and friends say that they also became concerned when they didn’t hear from Anison. We understand that her colleagues from the Liberty Children’s Home last spoke with her over the phone on Monday. But all other attempts to get in touch with her by phone this week proved futile.

Some of her friends allegedly made checks at her apartment and another area where she was building a home in Vista del Mar but there was no sign of Anison or her vehicle at either spots this week.

The British national was last seen alive on Monday at here at her apartment. She is said to be a friendly and nice person to all those who knew her, but villagers say she may have been a little too friendly with some residents from around the village. Some of her close friends repeatedly warned Anison to be careful because she associated with shady street figures from around the village

We understand that Anison has been in Belize for several years now. She started her work as a volunteer with the Liberty Children’s Home in Ladyville and after that she returned to the UK briefly, before permanently relocating to Belize. She was a member of the Board of Directors for Liberty Children’s Home. Reporting for News Five, I’m Andrea Polanco.

That is such a rude, crude and uncaring headline! And is that a photo of her bed?! The poor woman was volunteering to help Belizean children and she was murdered. Oh well, just another dead gringa! Shame!
