Urgent Action Needed in Alleged Nationality Fraud

On Thursday, Leader of the Opposition John Briceño spared no quarter in his condemnation of Immigration Minister, Senator Godwin Hulse. He said he considered it hypocritical of Hulse to attempt to lay blame for the failures of the Immigration Department solely on public officers. But as a new set of allegations dogs the Department, Briceño said Government needs to roll up its sleeves and solve the problem – quickly.

“That has to be addressed ASAP – as soon as possible. You probably need to bring in the people from the Auditor General’s Department to go in and do a complete and thorough examination of the records and any nationality that was fraudulently issued needs to be rescinded immediately, they need to bring in their papers, they need to take away their passports if they have, and I think we need to include INTERPOL to send this out, that wherever the port of entry if they meet these passports they need to be taken away from these people. But we also need to point out that the ring as it is is not the ring that started way back. The ring continues to renew itself, and the ring right now, I believe, is headed by none other than some of the U.D.P. Ministers – we know the ones that are going there all the time; we know the U.D.P. operatives out there all the time trying to push on records; it is their own people. but again, Minister Godwin Hulse would want to pass on the blame on the public officers, fully knowing that it is the same members of the U.D.P. that are the ringleaders in what is taking place right now at the Immigration Department.”

Nationality fraud? What about fraud in the Lands Dept.? That’s far worse and far more pervasive.
