Elvis Bandosingh Discovered Dead in a Drain on Raccoon Street Extension

Elvis Bandosingh

This morning, residents in the vicinity of Raccoon Street Extension discovered a body inside a drain.  Initially, it was believed that the then unidentified male may have been the victim of foul play.  Belize City police were immediately called to the scene and it was later learned that the individual was fifty-five-year-old Elvis Bandosingh.  According to Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, the unemployed man was originally from the Corozal District, but had been residing at an address on Zericote Street for some time.  Described as a heavy drinker, police say that Bandosingh was also known to be epileptic.  It is for those reasons that they believe his death was of natural causes.  That presumption, however, will be confirmed at the conclusion of an autopsy in the days ahead.

“Sometime after 6:50 this morning, police visited a location on Raccoon Street Extension.  The place was at Charlie’s Apartments, in front of Charlie’s Apartments, where they observed the lifeless body of a male person lying face down inside of a drain.  Information that we have so far is that the person was seen last night walking from Maskall Street into Raccoon Street Extension.  Thereafter, his body was found this morning inside of the drain.  The male person’s name is Elvis Bandosingh.  He lives here in Belize City but he’s originally from Corozal.  He was staying at 32 Zericote Street.  The preliminary [investigation is indicating] that there is no foul play suspected.  We understand that the man was suffering from some kind of seizures and that he was a person that was constantly consuming alcohol.  There is no physical injuries on the body.  Yes, there’s a small cut and we suspect that when he fell that’s what caused that injury to his face.”
