Alejandro Cowo

A young woman remains in a critical condition inside the Intensive Care Unit of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following a near fatal shooting in the Corozal District almost a week ago. Last Wednesday morning around eight-thirty, twenty-two-year-old Brenda Jandrez was shot to the abdomen while inside her house. Jandrez was at home along with another person when they both came under gunfire.  In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, one person had been detained by police. That person has since been released and no one has been charged for the attempt on Jandrez’s life. Police still have not been able to ascertain a motive for the shooting.
