Alejandro Cowo

There was further loss of life over the weekend. Two American senior citizen tourists apparently drowned in separate incidents between Friday and Saturday. The incidents took place in the beach corridor of the Stann Creek District, in Hopkins and Maya Beach near Placencia. As police revealed today, both men went off alone, one after socializing with friends earlier on, and the other kayaking. When their bodies were later discovered, there was no sign of violence observed. According to Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, a post-mortem examination of each body is to be performed on sixty-seven-year-old Paul Panarese and sixty-eight-year-old Robert Lotz.

“A male person by the name of Paul Panarese, he was found floating at the beach side in Hopkins village. He was socializing with a group of male persons when he decided to take a walk by the beach and that is the last time he was seen alive. The body was found the following day at the beach side. We have to wait for the post-mortem. The body was checked; there’s no signs of foul play up to now but we need to determine from what the post-mortem may be saying; no injuries on the body.  A male person was found near the Maya Beach area; apparently he went kayaking, the night before, and he was found by the sea shore, motionless. Again, the body was checked; there’s no physical violence or no injury observed on the body. The person’s name is Robert Lotz, of an Illinois, U.S.A. address. Likewise, he was visiting Belize and he was staying along with his wife.”
