Will Teachers Take Action?

Elena Smith

In speaking with the media on Monday, National President Elena Smith says that the B.N.T.U. is not attempting to call the tune on behalf of the prime minister; however, it remains firm in its position that they are demanding answers.

Elena Smith, National President, B.N.T.U.

“The prime minister has made it clear that there are persons or groups who like to dictate to him and so we are not one to dictate to him but we are very clear in our position that this is what we are looking for and if you cannot assist us in getting the information that we need to get then it means that we will do what we must to get our information.  Whatever it takes.  I’m not sure right now if it would mean taking action, if it will mean that, you know, we’ll have to do some sort of going around the prime minister to get some information, but whatever it is that we have to do we will do because the information is quite important.  If there is something good that has happened during this last year, I would be happy to share that with you all, but we are not aware.  We are hearing things but we are not sure and so he is the best person to give us the proper information.”

It is expected that the B.N.T.U. will respond to the PM’s letter.
