B.D.F. Members to Help Dominica Disaster Relief

B.D.F. to Dominica? Yes, says Defense C.E.O. Felix Enriquez. The B.D.F. will be heading to the hurricane devastated island to help with reconstruction. Dominica has been asking for help after Hurricane Maria tore through the island about three weeks ago – destroying almost every structure. And as a part of its disaster relief outreach to the region, Belize is deploying members of the B.D.F. to help out. C.E.O. Enriquez tells us more.

“The B.D.F., through the Ministry of Defence, is sending a platoon of light engineers to Dominica to assist with the reconstruction. As you all know, that country has been badly devastated recently by Hurricane Irma and so Belize is sending the platoon of light engineers and they will be deployed hopefully within the next week for a period of two months to construct roofs and housing reconstruction in Dominica as a part of regional security system and CDEMA are a part of.  What they need now is assistance with reconstruction efforts. Our light engineers within the B.D.F. have been developed through our partnership with US and Canada. They are equipped fully to deploy. So we have been asked to deploy and we will.”
