Can ComPol Mediate Vidal-Williams Feud?

The simmering feud between Assistant Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, former head of Eastern Division South, and successor Senior Superintendent Marco Vidal reached boiling point earlier in September. Responding to a press question on September twelfth, Vidal alluded to the widely held perception that certain gang groups were allowed to thrive in the marijuana trade in exchange for keeping the peace. But Williams, via social media, firmly denied that and sent off a letter through attorney Andrew Marshalleck threatening court action. The senior cops have since de-escalated tensions on orders from Deputy Commissioner Noel Leal, but Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie wants to know what happened and is planning a sit-down with both gentlemen.

“What I’ve known is things that I have heard in the media. I heard you say Mr. Vidal said certain things; I don’t know if Mr. Vidal said certain things – it’s a matter of interpretation. My understanding was that he was answering a question, a hypothetical or something. I haven’t had the opportunity yet to speak to any of those officers; I don’t know what has been done since it occurred in my absence. But it is things I will be following up; there are a number of things that I need to follow up on and that is one of the things I will definitely be following up on.”
