Panamanian Teaches Belizeans How to Act

Jaime Newball

A two-week acting workshop wrapped up today in the city. Panamanian actor and stage coach Jaime Newball teamed up with the Bliss to offer the training. The facilitator trained about thirty participants in different aspects of the screen business from stage management to acting improvisation. He says he saw a wide range of raw talent in Belize and that this kind of training serves as a good starting ground for those who are interested in the business.

Jaime Newball, Facilitator, Acting Workshop

“We start from the technical part which is the stage management. Sometimes when we are doing a show or play, or even a program you need to have a base like how to have everything going on; like how to be on time, how to be on queue and how to work with people in productions and in your shows for the benefit of the product and the play you are doing. So, we have worked a little bit around that and reminding them of things that is necessary so if anybody want to do a production, they can able to be with the time and schedule for the benefit of product that they want to present on stage. After that we went to two different workshops, one from the stage that fact that you needs to always be improvising and being prepared and getting more materials as actor so you can do a better job as an actor when you are performing. The last one which is the main goal of all these workshops was how to do acting for television and movies which have different codes and sometimes it is a little bit difficult when we go to the TV or on screen because we act as we were on stage. The experience has been very great and the participants have worked a lot and from they got in they have been working on script on how to build characters, how to do exercise in front of the cameras, and how to find out the things they need to improve. I am very satisfied with the results that we have gone through.”
