Who Do Police Believe in Orange Walk Shooting/Traffic Accident?

Police are trying to puzzle out a strange incident reported on Tuesday afternoon involving three men from Orange Walk. There was a traffic accident reported in front of M-1 Sugar. Thirty-seven-year-old Tiburcio Fernandez and twenty-two-year-old Abdi Aban had been drinking and driver Fernandez lost control of the vehicle. But the story actually starts, according to Fernandez, from when the men were riding from San Pablo village. He says that around the Mameyal curve, the younger man pulled out a knife on him, stole his phone and tried to escape. Fernandez stopped the car to chase and encountered seventy-one-year-old Diodoro Novelo who knows the area and Novelo, armed with a licensed point-two-two rifle, came up on and shot Aban in the right foot. Police were called and they transported Aban south to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment. But when he was released into police custody, Aban alleged that the men met in Orange Walk Town around La Popular Bakery and went around buying drinks, which Fernandez later confirmed. It went sideways when on the San Antonio Road, Aban says Fernandez told him that he wanted to have sexual relations with him and proceeded to touch him inappropriately. Aban says he told him to back off, and after a quick struggle, Fernandez lost control and crashed in the M-1 Sugar area. Fernandez and Aban sustained minor wounds in the crash while Aban’s gunshot wound which he did not explain was classified as harm. Novelo’s rifle has bene held for processing and both Fernandez and Aban are in police custody as their investigations continue.
