Teenager Struck Down in Orange Walk by Hit-and-Run Driver

Monique Morey

A teenager remains in a coma tonight after she was knocked down in Orange Walk sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. Sixteen-year-old Monique Morey was out partying with a relative on Sunday and while heading home, she was struck by a vehicle a short distance away from her grandmother’s house in San Andres Layout, Orange Walk. Monique was found in an unconscious state by a jogger on Monday morning.  Her parents say they know very little about the circumstances under which she gravely injured.  The driver hit the teen and never stopped to render aid. She was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital before being transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Today, her mother, Juliet Arzu spoke with News Five about the unfortunate incident.
