Feel the ‘LOVE’ in Belama Phase Two Park

The fifth in a series of signs created by attorney Estevan Perera and supported by the Belize City Council was unveiled this morning at a park in Belama Phase Two, across from Perera’s law office. The “Love Sign” as it is officially called joins two “Belize” signs along the Marine Parade and at Seashore Drive Park, and the Belize postcard sign in Battlefield Park with the Supreme Court in view. Perera and Mayor Darrell Bradley say they just want to spread a little love and joy across the Old Capital and make the perfect backdrop for selfies or intimate portraits.

“I designed this new sign for families so that persons who are in relationships – husbands and wives, persons getting married, persons attending Prom – so that they can use the sign and appreciate it and have that image of love resident within their photos and pictures that they want to do. But this is more of a sign that is designed for families here in Belize, more so than the touristic approach that the other signs were used for.”

Darrell Bradley, Mayor of Belize City

“He wants to, through these initiatives, promote healthy values throughout Belize City; so that you have the Belize signs which of course encourages patriotism and nationalism; but when you talk about love and the concept of love and the fact that we need to show more love toward members of our community, I think it is a perfect message, and I think that the fact that this emanated as a result of partnership and collaboration between the private sector and public sector resident groups and then also the municipality, I think that that is a huge win; and then again the fact that it cost the City Council absolutely nothing.”

Creative Marketing is responsible for the maintenance of the sign. A further project is planned for Cinderella Plaza.
