Discarded Baby in East Canal Suffered from Breathing Problems

The discovery of a dead baby, its umbilical cord still attached, found floating in East Canal on Thursday morning, has stunned residents of Belize City.  The baby boy, discarded inside a black plastic bag, was fished out of the waterway by a sanitation worker who was cleaning the area.  Julian Jimenez immediately alerted police who were on patrol in the vicinity.  They quickly took control of the scene and radioed for support.  Despite the removal of the body, there is no confirmation whether a post mortem examination has been conducted.  Likewise, there is no definitive identification of the mother in question, contrary to a buzz of activity on social media since the discovery was made public.  The police department has remained rather silent on the matter; suffice to say that an investigation is ongoing.

  1. Hatari says:

While protesters chanted at the court over justice for Faye and no bail for the gringos, around the corner another baby floated in the stinking canal . . . where are the protests about this baby’s death?
