Police confirm drug trafficking aboard Norwegian ship

A week after it happened, police have confirmed the presence of drugs aboard a cruise ship docked at Harvest Caye in the Stann Creek District. Police indicated on Monday that the drugs were suspected to be methamphetamine. However, according to an official statement issued today, the substance is being tested at the Forensic Service in Ladyville. As we reported on Monday, the drugs were found while the ship was docked at the Harvest Caye Cruise Port. The bust happened around eight-forty-five a.m. on June thirteenth aboard the Norwegian Escape. One Derson Frank, thirty years, of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was reported to Placencia police by security officers from the cruise ship, who initially found the drugs in Frank’s cabin. Police took over the illegal substance and also arrested Renaldo Kerron Roberts of St. Vincent and Jamal Nathus Celise of St. Lucia. Each package was weighed and amounted to just over a kilogram. The trio were remanded to the Central Prison after being charged with two counts of drug trafficking.
