Police Nabbed Accused Killer of “Hard Rock” in Belmopan

David Arnold

The murder of popular Belize City disc jockey Andrew ‘Hard Rock’ Bennett stunned the deejay fraternity several weeks ago, when word of the deadly shooting on Central American Boulevard spread like wildfire across social media.  On Thursday, Hard Rock’s alleged killer was nabbed in Belmopan and extradited to the Old Capital where he was arraigned on a single count of murder.  But who is David Arnold and was he running from the law by hiding in Belmopan after committing the heinous act?  According to ACP Williams, the suspect was already falling into a routine when police caught up with him.

“As you may have remembered in previews interviews we had said that we knew who the suspect was in respect to the murder of Hard Rock and that individual we were looking for, David Arnold was apprehended in the Belmopan area and was transported to us here in Belize City.  We did our investigation further into the incident and yesterday we were able to formally arrest and charge David Arnold for the crime of murder in respect to the death of Hard Rock.”

“Would you be at liberty at this time to expand on a motive perhaps?”

ACP Chester Williams

“Establishing a motive in respect of that incident is still a bit difficult.  We’re hearing different reasons so I would not want to speculate.  So I’ll leave it at that.”

“Sir is Arnold a resident of Belmopan or was he just hiding out there?”

ACP Chester Williams

“Well he is basically from Belize City but he apparently was working in Belmopan.  From our information he came down that weekend when Hard Rock was killed or the day when Hard Rock was killed.  [He] did the murder and went back to Belmopan.  So he was comfortable in Belmopan when he was caught by the police.”
