Couple Still Missing; Has The Worst Happened?

Also up north in Corozal, the search continues for a couple who has been missing since Thursday.  Thirty-four-year-old Zeidy Orozco and forty-two-year-old Balthazar Lopez were last seen in the vicinity of Corozo Blues, but hours later, Orozco car was found torched in a cane field in the outskirts of Patchakan Village. Search parties have been combing the area unsuccessfully and have now extended to the entire district. Police have not given any interviews to the media nor have they provided any information to both families. Today, the families searched through the villages of San Victor and Caledonia. With each passing day, they fear the worst. Representatives from both sides spoke to News Five saying they are disappointed in what they think is not an adequate response from police in searching for their missing loved ones.

“I don’t believe that they are doing all they can do. Yes they are assisting to an extent, but their search compared to what we are doing is not half as much. We expect them to come out of their vehicles. I know they have certain protocols because they are police and they have rules and obligations, but I would like them to put a little bit more effort into it. They are helping us. Yes I understand that it is a small department and everything but man, show us a little bit more. That is all we are asking. Show us that you care. We are part of our community; we are expected that you guys protect us. And whenever we need you, we expect you to respond.”

“Both sides of the families being linked to this, we can’t only depend on the police. That’s why we are moving up, asking for assistance; every day we are spending on fuel and food with the hope that we might come up with some results.”
