San Pedro man to be tried for chef’s slaying
A San Pedro resident met his untimely death allegedly at the hands of a chef under what appeared to have been a love triangle on La Isla Bonita. The fatal stabbing occurred on September eighth, 2016 when Elton Duran Polonio lost his life. Police charged Linden Kelly with Polonia’s murder. This morning, Kelly appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith for a preliminary inquiry which concluded in his committal to stand trial in the Supreme Court for the murder of Polonio who he knew for ten years. Polonio was killed inside a warehouse on the island and a post mortem indicated he died due to internal and external bleeding as a consequence of stab wounds. Polonio was stabbed to the neck, chest and hand. Kelly has no alibi witnesses to call on his behalf while Prosecutor Corporal Kennard Clark is relying on several witnesses’ statement and a police statement along with a recorded interview in which Kelly admitted to stabbing Polonio with a knife used to fillet fish.
