Interpol looks for seasoned criminals, including Manuel ‘El Pelon’ Castillo
The International Criminal Police Organization, known as Interpol, has fingered six Belizeans among two hundred fifty-seven Caribbean nationals wanted this Easter by the agency, according to website News Americas Now. Boris Vostry is a national of both Belize and the Czech Republic who is wanted by the Czech Republic to serve a sentence for fraud. Miguel Matus is wanted in Belize for escape from lawful custody in 2010 while serving a life sentence for the murder of Pricilla Tzib. Lincoln Bejerano is wanted in Belize for escape in October of 2016 and is suspected in the murder of taxi driver Isidro Suar in January of 2016. Jaime Leonel Rivas from San Ignacio, is also wanted in Belize for murder. Also on the list is Joseph Budna, who is serving time in a Guatemalan prison for various offences. He is officially wanted by the United States for Hostage Taking, Conspiracy to Commit Hostage Taking, and Using and Carrying a Firearm during and in Relation to a Crime of Violence. Last but certainly not least on the list is none other than Manuel Castillo Mendez, known as ‘El Pelon,’ accused mastermind in the kidnapping and murder of Ramon Cervantes Senior in Orange Walk Town in July of 2014 and death of housewife Sonia Abac. Their bodies were found bound in shallow graves along the Honey Camp Road. In 2014, we aired the disturbing recording of a conversation between a man alleged to be Castillo, and Ramon Senior’s widow Vilma, in which he claims that he was approached to be involved in an alleged hit on Ramon Junior but refused. He also claimed that a huge organization with ties to Mexico, with help from Belizean sources, was responsible for Ramon Senior’s death. We replay portions of that recording tonight, possibly the last known communication from Castillo.

Purported Voice Of: Manuel Castillo
“Look, I am all over Facebook and the internet, all over. And I have not done anything. I am the one that told them not to do it because no no…I don’t do that kind of job. And I….And what hurts me mostly Misses Vilma; look, what hurts me the most, is that these days I am supposed to be with my wife because she recently had a baby. And I don’t even know where my wife is right now. I don’t even know where she is right now because of this problem that is happening. I am telling you. I don’t know where my wife and my baby are. Now how do you think I feel? Explain to Monchi not to trust all or any police because, please I tell you, that they are the same ones that are involved in all this. I’m telling you it’s a, it’s a huge organization Misses Vilma; I tell you. That’s why I am even afraid to talk because, I don’t know, Misses Vilma, maybe tomorrow, I will be walking around there and the same people that sent to kill your husband pay someone there to kill me. That’s why I want to finish with him. I need to finish with this.”
The recording was released at a memorial service that month in Cervantes’ native Orange Walk Town. It led to a civil suit filed by then-Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega for alleged libel, which is still awaiting a ruling in the Supreme Court. INTERPOL has also issued notices for several other wanted persons. Hovard Martinez is still at large for the murder of Freddy Cerritos a few months ago; Guatemalan national Sergio Recinos Moran is wanted in connection with an alleged murder. David Cruz escaped with Bejerano and is wanted in connection with the Income Tax Belmopan robbery last July. Allan Cal is still on the run two decades after the killing of British volunteer Anna Lightfoot in 1999; he too had escaped from jail. Shaquille Jones is listed as wanted for murder despite having been acquitted of a double murder in 2013. Justin West is wanted for fraud committed against his former employer, the Radisson Fort George Hotel; he is believed to have absconded to the U.S. And finally, the only woman on the list is American national Tracy Nessi, accused of killing her lover and uncle Tim McNamara in Belize on Christmas Day, 2014. If you have any information on any criminals listed, contact your national or local police or the General Secretariat of INTERPOL. INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organization, with one hundred and ninety member countries.
