B.T.B. Addresses Issues at Tourism Village
Stakeholders in the Fort George Tourism Zone are pushing back against efforts by the Belize Tourism Board and Belize City Council to regulate traffic around the Zone, out of the Tourism Village, and into the Memorial Park, where millions of dollars have been spent in upgrades. Add the efforts of the Council to collect trade license from vendors, and you have a powder keg that could explode in official authorities’ faces. But the Board says it is working not to have that happen. Director of Marketing Karen Pike told us that the Board is certain it can reach compromise.
Karen Pike, Director of Marketing and Industry Relations, B.T.B.
“What you’ll find in Belize we are a progressive nation, and with all the changes and new regulations that are coming into play, there will be some resistance to change. We are going forward with having stakeholder meetings and ensuring that everyone is aware of what is being changed, and what benefits we will see in the future. So as far as B.T.B. we will always have those challenges, but we are prepared to handle them.”
