Jason Joseph Has Attempted Murder Charge Dismissed
A street figure, Jason Joseph, who has had his own share of run-ins with the law walked free today from a charge of the attempted murder of a Belize City man he was accused of critically wounding in a shooting six years old. Even though the victim, Jeffery Flowers, was left as a paraplegic, he failed to show up for trial today. In court, Prosecutor Sherigne Rodriguez refused to enter a nolle prosequi against Joseph, leaving the matter in the hands of Justice Adolph Lucas. The judge dismissed Joseph from the charge of attempted murder and he was free to go. Flowers was shot on July twenty-ninth, 2011 on Amara Avenue near its intersection with King Street. He was in the area when the gunman ambushed him from behind. Flowers fell to the ground and even though he tried to escape the gunman opened fire in his direction hitting him in the back, abdomen, chest, arm and leg. But it was the shot to the back that left him paralyzed and has since been using a wheel chair.
