Briceño Urges, Don’t Wait to Fix Voters’ Rolls
Briceño was further questioned about whether it is worth it to wait for the Senate’s inquiry to be completed. The P.U.P. has a vested interest in pursuing re-registration because of the over two thousand one hundred persons it says illegally got nationality during the run-up to the 2012 general election. This, it says, tipped the scale in favour of the U.D.P. to win them a second term. Now Briceño says it is as simple as removing those people from the list – right away.
John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader
“We could start registration right now, but the Government knows what are the files they have to look at. It will take them what, one week, to go through those files? And if they know that Mr. John Doe did not get his nationality property, they will call them and tell them you have to bring in the nationality; go to passports and revoke their passports; put a notice to Elections and Boundaries – “This person can’t register.” It’s a simple process; it’s as simple as that. No mek them baffle unu with BS; that’s what they are good at and they have been doing that since 2008. That is why this country has not been moving forward. All they do is baffle you and throw you all kinds of facts and figures, numbers, confusing everybody; but when you look at the real facts, that this country is worse off right now than we were with the P.U.P. Government coming up to 2008; that is a fact.”
