P.M.’s Law Firm Has No Conflicts of Interest; He Dismisses “Blue Herring”

So, what about the perceived conflict of interest purportedly arising out of business being conducted by the prime minister’s law firm with Ashcroft-related companies?  The PM flatly describes that perception as a blue herring, a ploy that is being promulgated by the People’s United Party.

Isani Cayetano

“There’s been the issue of a conflict of interest being tossed around insofar as Mr. Courtenay’s position, but there are those who would argue that the same can be said for your law firm in terms of doing business with Mr. Ashcroft’s group locally.  Can you speak to that, dispel the notion or speak to that directly?”

“That is a red herring or maybe a blue herring.  Listen, in the long ago and far away, I appeared in court on a couple of occasions when I was a practicing attorney on behalf of the Ashcroft Alliance.  At the time I was Leader of the Opposition or certainly an opposition parliamentarian and I made it plain, I stood up in the House and I declared if not declaimed, I might do one thing as a lawyer but I will never stand against Belize.  The briefs that I accepted had to do with the Ashcroft Alliance and private disputes, I am here to tell you that even before I got into government there is simply no way as a private lawyer that I would have accepted briefs from the Ashcroft Alliance that would have had as their objective and as their end result crippling the finances and the reserves of this country.”

“Sir, but Mr. Courtenay has brought up the issue that he says he has proof that your law firm is a shareholder in an Ashcroft company.”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I’ve just finished, maybe you came a little late, I just finished answering Isani.  I don’t know about that.  We can check with my partner who runs the firm.  [He] has always been a managing partner and he runs it on his own for all these years I’ve been in government.  But I am telling you, do not let that distract from the real issue which is that nothing any other firm in this country has done can compare to what Courtenay is doing by way of his relentless continuing efforts to empower the Ashcroft Alliance to, in fact, place in extreme jeopardy the finances, the strength of the currency of this country.”

Stop lying. This is what Belizeans should have questioned years ago. Read my post on February 13th under the caption National Utilities will be sold off…… You are tantamount to Trump putting all his business partners and commercial and personal interests to the forefront in the US. See, his mess is already started to crumble. People in Belize have no gall nor backbone, I’ve said it countless times, if PUP were in power with all this happening, you and your party would have already incited violence, looting and burning as you’ve shown several times while being a member of the opposition. The ironical part of this is that when these same idiots start to feel those walls caving in and there’s no way to turn and you don’t have anymore $50 and $100 a week to give them because the country is broke, you now become the hunted. Read “Animal Farm” Mr. WIREBACK PRIME MINISTER. Perhaps one of the greatest literature books written.

Seems that the truth is finally coming out of the PM.. Belizeans please wake up…!!!!!
