Atlantic Insurance Adopts Ward at K.H.M.H.

Healthcare is everybody’s business. The national referral hospital has been encouraging the private sector to invest in the K.H.M.H.  Well, Atlantic Insurance has stepped up and retrofitted a room within the medical ward. The private room has been transformed into a recovery room and will hopefully bring in revenue for the hospital.  News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

You’ve heard about the Adopt-A-Ward program of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital which encourages members of the community, primarily corporate citizens, to adopt a wall, ward, hall or room in the hospital or provide equipment, supplies, and labor or help to sustain the program with financial support. Today, before the staff and management of the K.H.M.H., another room at the national referral hospital received a facelift—upgraded and privatized—by Atlantic Insurance Limited.

“Today, Atlantic Insurance in collaboration with Karl Heusner is making that difference—a difference that will touch the lives of many, many throughout our country. We have partners with our national referral hospital in creating and adopting this private room in this here medical ward—a ward that we have been told has a high volume of patients. As stakeholders in the community, we saw the need and we approached Karl Heusner; it is our corporate social responsibility to make that difference that we want to see in our country. As insurers, we know the need for urgent medical care and even long term care. The creation of this private room will facilitate the authority to generate additional income while providing their usual excellent healthcare.”

“It is very well appointed, very beautiful; in fact when you close the door, you would think that you are at the Radisson or something like that. And of course you know we want to match that pampering that you experience here with the care that we are also giving. So on behalf of the board of governors, the directors, management team, our staff and for all patients that are to utilize this particular area in the near future, we are very grateful to the generosity and due consideration of Atlantic Insurance Company and their staff.”

According to C.E.O. of the K.H.M.H., Doctor Adrian Coye, miracles are performed at the hospital daily and this adds to the continued service offered by the hospital.

“A room that has been upgraded to a standard that is for a standard that I have aspirations for the whole hospital. And by this example, others can see that they can participate, similarly in adopting areas of the hospital to help us elevate our care, our quality of care and the environment in which the care is given.”
