On yesterday’s newscast we chronicled the impressive performance of Belizean high school graduates in the C.X.C. exams. And for those students yet to take the tests, an exhibit on the work that goes into the examinations may have proven helpful.

Teacher Michelle Turton believes such exhibition will greatly assist fourth formers in their preparations for the exam.

“We have found out that the students and the teachers alike are very impressed with what they are seeing here, especially the art display and some of the other booths that they see here. They express that they would have liked to see more, but since it’s our first try, they believe that it has really helped them and its very interesting.”

In the past three years, schools countrywide have been submitting their students’ best work, which has made the show possible. There is also an internal component to the exam called school base assessment. The S.B.A. accounts for twenty percent of a students’ final CXC grade.

“What we are displaying today, is especially the S.B.A. component of the examination where students get to do practical assignments. And so we thought that it would be very helpful for the students to learn, as well as to showcase and highlight what our students have been doing over the years.”

The exhibition was held to commemorate C.X.C.’s thirtieth anniversary.

The three day C.X.C. exhibition took place at the Mexican Cultural Institute.
