Cops Charged in Assault of Teenage Rival

Kenrick & Akeem Gamboa

Two cops were charged with grievous harm when they appeared in court today. Brothers twenty-eight-year-old Kenrick Gamboa and twenty-four-year-old Akeem Gamboa were jointly for grievous harm upon nineteen year old Michael Crawford. Kenrick was also slapped with an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. On Saturday evening, the Gamboa brothers and another man attacked Crawford at a house at Mile Four. The elder Gamboa fired a shot at Crawford and then the three men chased him a vehicle, caught him on Raccoon Street and proceeded to attack him. According to Crawford’s family, the attack was made because on Friday night, he got engaged to a young woman who was in a previous relationship with one of the brothers.  The two officers pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of four thousand dollars. Akeem was unable to meet bail and was taken into custody.  Kenrick, on the other hand, was denied bail for the second charge of aggravated assault with a weapon and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until April.  News Five understands that Police are still looking for a third person believed to be involved in the attack on Crawford.

Hopefully the DA sends a strong message to the unlawful law officers, that such behaviour cannot be tolerated. We belizeans need to hold our peace officers to a very high standard.
